Welcome to this blog  about all the different projects am involved with.

Yoruba Music Tour

Am determined to help Olaiwola travel to Canada to share  his musical talent and blessings with us in the new world.

Olaiwola is my immediate younger brother. I have lots of respect for him because he was called by the Orishas like me. ”…..your late calling was destined..”, my mother said. Although I had the Orisha Aju on my head from birth and I could not speak till the age of 5, many offerings and rituals to apeace the Orishas helped me to regain my voice. I am grateful that I am now using the same voice to sing praises of the universe for her bountiful blessings.

Olaiwola who never had the same fate as I, was also called to drum for the Orishas earlier in his life too.  He plays GOJE, the traditional violin of my people. Very few Yoruba musicians play this instrument today; the more reason, I am  determined to help preserve this ancient musical skill my brother was blessed with. A master drummer, Olaiwola plays other Yoruba drums such as: Sakara; Bata; Gangan (talking drum)  he also sings and chants like I do.

Yoruba Music Tour is for the preservation of a culture that  is fast eroding even amongst Yoruba people in Nigeria. With this tour, we hope to present Egungun anscestral masked dancer, Angere stilt walker, and Igunnu. We will perform musical chants and songs of the orishas  whenever we are called upon. We will present contemporary music of Juju and Highlife  along with Gospel songs. We will also be happy to teach anyone interested in playing Yoruba drums at workshops and drum circles.

My tasks are to organize presentations, performances and book gigs with clubs, festivals and to help to secure travel visas for Olaiwola and two other drummers. Therefore, friends, book us for presentations! and much of the musical blessings we experience in Yoruba land will be shared with you this summer.
